ABOUT THE ARTIST
With a background marked by punk, rock’n’roll, and a low-fi aesthetic, Samuel Úria has been gaining notoriety since 2008. His “official” solo discography includes four LPs and two EPs: “Canções do Pós-Guerra_solo” (2021); “Canções do Pós-Guerra” (2020); “Marca Atroz” (2018); “Carga de Ombro“ (2016); “O Grande Medo do Pequeno Mudo” (2013); and “Nem Lhe Tocava” (2009). In his “unofficial” discography associated with the FlorCaveira label, there are two CD-Rs and one EP-R: “O Caminho Ferroviário Estreito”; “Em Bruto”; and “Descondecoração de Samuel Úria.” Additionally, he has collaborated on projects such as “Velhas Glórias,” “Ninivitas,” or “Maria Clementina.”
Alongside vibrant and unforgettable live performances, Samuel Úria stands out among his peers for his unique use of his mother tongue. His songs can be found in the repertoire of Ana Bacalhau, Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Cindy Kat, Clã, Cláudia Pascoal, HMB, Marta Hugon, or Miguel Araújo, establishing him as the most interesting singer-songwriter of the 21st century. Also in the field of composition, he recently had the opportunity to be responsible for the soundtrack of the SIC series “Prisão Domiciliária” and composed for the play “Cochinchina,” directed by Sandra Barata Belo and based on a short story by Afonso Cruz.
