ABOUT THE ARTIST

Joana Negrão is a singer, author and lyricist, instrumentalist (Bagpipes, Adufe, Galician Tambourine), and performer. She has dedicated the last twenty years of her life to Music, particularly traditional Portuguese music. Her work was most visible through her musical project Dazkarieh, where she was a composer/lyricist, vocalist, and instrumentalist between 2006 and 2014, recording 5 albums. She founded Seiva, with Vasco Ribeiro Casais, which has already recorded 2 albums. With Dazkarieh and Seiva, she has performed at festivals all over the world. She wrote a songbook dedicated to children and youth called “From Sap to Tree” (Da Seiva à Árvore). With this book, she has toured the country with shows for children and taught musical expression from preschool to the first cycle of elementary school. In 2020, she launched her solo project, A Cantadeira, releasing her first album in 2024.
