On August 16th, 2024, POLYGLOT closes its application looking for the next European chart-topper. All seven partner countries submitted songs, entries representing the beautiful linguistic diversity in Europe – a core value of POLYGLOT.

On August 16th, 2024, POLYGLOT closes its application looking for the next European chart-topper. All seven partner countries submitted songs, entries representing the beautiful linguistic diversity in Europe – a core value of POLYGLOT.

The call gathered songs in majority and minority languages, about topics as far-ranging as puppies and politics, sung in Spanish, Catalonian, Ukrainian, Latino, Romani, Italian: Sicilian, Napoletanean, Sardinian, Casertanese, Latvian, Polish and Russian. Hungary, the project’s country of origin ranked highest in the number of entries, serving up 487 songs to the smorgasbord of the European song incubator. Latvia, Italy and Poland compete for medals, while all participants are duly represented, keeping the jury busy to choose 10 songs per country.

As the call loses, selection begins, POLYGLOT’s Curatorial Board will choose which 10 songs have the biggest potential to make it abroad. Balázs Weyer from Music Hungary; Pietro Carfi of Finisterre; Agnese Cimuska-Rekke from Music Export Latvia, Inna Lytovka representing  Music Export Ukraine; Tomasz Lipinski from Music Export Poland; Eliana Bernardes from SCL, Jordi Puy from Unison; Robert Singerman delegated by Lyricfind and Neus Lopez from  Initiative Musik sets out to create a songpool of 70 by the end of September.
